As promised here’s my new food post which I made with my latest grocery shopping at Zola market. I got my hands on fresh Salmon, so I decided to prepare some yummy Tandoori Fish fingers for the kids.

I have not made it in a regular way but given a slight twist. It turned out Juicy & crispy and was totally delicious. I hope you will enjoy it too, like my previous posts. 😊

It is said that the term “fish finger” is first captured in a recipe given in a popular British magazine in 1900, and the dish for which this term is used is often considered symbolic of the United Kingdom.  Fish fingers, also called fish sticks are made using any white fish fillet without bones or single bones, like Tilapia, cod, swai, or haddock. Salmon also works great.

Fish fingers are one of the most popular party snacks loved by people of all ages. These crispy and juicy fish fingers are actually very easy to make. All you need to do is to cut the fillets into fingers and marinate them with the spices. Later it is coated in breadcrumbs, flour, and egg and then can be baked in an oven, grilled, shallow-fried, or deep-fried to give its signature crispy covering. But here we have ditched this traditional way of making fish fingers and given it a desi twist to make Tandoori Fish fingers

For fish fingers, Fishes are commonly available in the frozen food section of supermarkets. And you can also get them fresh at some open market if you are lucky.

Preparation of Tandoori Fish fingers

Tandoori Fish Fingers are different from authentic fish fingers. They are crispy and juicy having a zest of tandoori flavour.

  • bowl
  • Pan for deep frying
  • spoon to mix
  • 3 pc Fish fillet (Salmon)
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1-2 tsp salt (as per taste)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp crushed peppercorn
  • 1 tsp roasted & crushed coriander
  • 1 tsp roasted & crushed cumin
  • 1 tsp tandoori masala
  • 1 tsp chilly flakes
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tbsp refined flour
  1. Wash the fish fillets throughlly

  2. Tap them dry and cut Cut them in fingers

  3. Now add salt, lemon juice, olive oil, ginger garlic paste, crushed peppercorn, crushed coriander, crushed cumin ,crushed chilly flakes & tandoori masala and mix well

  4. Now Add cornflour and refined flour and mix again

  5. Rest it for 1-2 hours in refrigerator.

  6. Either deep fry , grill or bake in oven.

To make regular fish fry add ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, olive oil, crushed peppercorn & chilly flakes and mix them well.

Later, coat the marinated fingers in egg and breadcrumbs & deep fry or bake at 180 C.

Your fish fingers are ready to serve. Serve them with mayonnaise or ketchup as per your preference.

One can also marinate and freeze them in an airtight container and use them later. To freeze them, first put butter paper in a large tray and place fish fingers in such a manner so that they don’t stick with each other. Put the tray inside the freezer for 1 hour. After that, the finger will become stiff and can be easily transferred to any airtight box.
