Doughnuts…. as the name spells, a picture got carved in our mind of a luscious and chocolatey round-shaped sweetbread sort of thing. Not only kids but adults too can’t resist themselves in taking a bite if they found doughnuts around themselves. It is such a delight to crave for. Well, I have blabbered enough about doughnuts, and I knew you all are really waiting for the recipe too.
But this post is not about the recipe… And I promise I will update it soon. This post is dedicated to the styling and photography I have done for these tempting beauties.
How layering Impact food styling in a dish like doughnuts
The main thing which I have kept in mind is to make the doughnuts of same colours, so I have decided to use milk chocolate as the doughnuts glaze(also my kids loves milk chocolate…that’s another reason for using milk chocolate ) and I tried to maintain a warm brown tone. The background which I have chosen was a brown printed fabric. And to just lift the monotonous mood, pop up of colours are induced from doughnuts toppings and a lighted candle.
For Food styling, I have used Layering technique. In the picture, you can see doughnuts are placed in three different heights position. Basically, layering gives a dimension to your food photography, and your pic doesn’t look flat. I have used a vase, a glass and a rustic metallic box to give three different heights. Also, a crush brown cover is used to give that crunchy rustic look to the whole frame.
Also to make the photo more mesmerising I have piled up the doughnuts and lighted candle for that dramatic look.
Another important tip to use while styling food pics is to throw the ingredients /toppings used in that specific dish. This not only makes it look more appealing but also helps the viewers in guessing the ingredients used. For that, I have just thrown a tissue paper and placed the melted chocolate in a tablespoon with some sprinkles and toppings on that.
Voila…Here are the tips and techniques I have used for styling Doughnuts with chocolate glaze. Stay tuned for more such posts on food styling and food photography ideas.
